Naxx: Easymode

Posted by: | Comments (1)

Karazhan was once a towering spire of challenges, a raid that we took seriously, and most of all, a symbol that you were above the foolish and weak masses – you were a raider. Now, that was a long time ago, and it wasn’t even true at the end of The Burning Crusade. But Karazhan used to mean something, back before the new level cap at 80, before reputation for heroics was lowered, before gear was easy to get, before PvP gear was adequate for PvE.

Naxx just doesn’t seem to have the same feeling, even though it’s currently the only real raid. And maybe it isn’t a real raid – Ensidia has cleared it already, pick up groups can finish it on normal or even heroic, and a lot of people treat it like a joke. I personally cleared it only two weeks after release on normal mode (my guild is too small for heroic raids, but we’re working on it.)

So why is Naxx so lax?

The Big Re-Roll

Posted by: | Comments (2)

I played a mage in Burning Crusade.  It was my first character and I loved playing it for a long time.  My best friend and I both rolled characters on the same server to get started, a nice little low-population server called Anub’Arak where we were assured we wouldn’t be ganked.

I want to point something out before I go any further into this article.  When I first started out, I didn’t know how to play and neither did anyone I played with.  I didn’t know what talent points were or what was good to level with.  I didn’t know what stats on gear did.  I didn’t know how kiting worked. I had two points in impact and three points in improved fireball up until I respecced (so I could AOE grind!) at level 54.

Well, it took me a while, but by the time I was walking into Hyjal I’m pretty sure I had become a decent player.
