The Not so Fast Grind

My main is big bad Grim. Yet he’s still not level 80 yet! I really thought that come the expansion me and Kiri would sit down and hammer our way directly to 80, not bothering to smell the roses.

We often spoke how we came late to the BC party.  Running dungeons almost a year after they launched, missing out on all the shiny new stuff, when it was well, shiny and new :P

But we haven’t taken that path at all. Infact we have taken an almost casual pace to levelling.  At the same time we have also been playing alts, who range from levels 50-70 (so much for having enough of old content hehe).   What has caused us to act like this? You know I think it might have something to do with….

After the break!

Our age?

We are hardly ‘kids’ any more so maybe we want to get the best ‘bang for buck’ experience out of Wrath. There’s no point rushing to max level missing out all the content is there?  Now I know you can always come back and go over the content you have missed.  Its not the same for me at all though.  There is no sense of achievement walking up to grey/green conned mobs and ganking them into the abyss, its hardly a challenge.

Not wanting to Burnout?

Playing the same class none stop doing the same things can get old fairly fast.  This is of course the main cause of people taking breaks from WoW and stopping playing all together.  Myself I have a 62 Warlock, 70 Paladin and 78 Warrior.  So there are all three ‘classic’ play styles right there for me to play with.  90% of my play time is taken up with Kirioth at my side on which ever toon he wants to play.  We have no issues at all about logging onto our lower level alts for a few hours.  It just depends on what we feel like doing at the time, after all we need to have fun playing WoW so that’s what we aim for at all times!

I can’t really think of anything else that’s stopped us from just becoming hell-bent on xp and storming our way to 80.

So yeah we are stopping to smell the roses, are you?

I’m honestly in the same boat when WOW first came out 4 years ago I rushed to 60 and got sorta burned out until MC and other 40 man raids came out (I honestly miss the day of the 40 man raid)

Then in BC I became an altaholic. I had always played a druid until BC and then next thing I know I’ve got a 70 druid 70 mage 70 lock and just for kicks another 70 druid.

Now that WotLK is out I’m finding myself pretty much in the same boat I tried playing my druid but I couldn’t get the feel of it attempted the warlock and had the same result so I’ve taken to level a hunter and a death knight of all things. I’m actually really enjoying playing the death knight and look forward to tanking one of the things I’ve never done in the game.

But yeah it all really boils down to not burning myself out. In BC I never raided anything bigger then Gruuls I never had the desire to really raid I pvp’d and socialized. But I believe (I hope really) that I will get back into the raiding spirit once I get end-game.

Oh well only time will tell

I used to play EQ2 before I started with WoW (this is going back a good 2 years now tho.

I lived to raid and that was it, i’d storm past all the content then sit around waiting for people to catch up so we could start raiding.

I guess at the time I had the mentality of…

“Whats the point in wasting time on solo/group stuff, when all the best gear comes from raiding?”

But now I’m a very much changed player, and I think its for the best :)

i thought i would have just tried leveling as fast as possbile, with the release of wotlk but i like exploring too much, plus im having alot of fun playing my death knight im just trying to get used to this tanking lark being a frost spec =D

my main character was a rogue which is now level 72 but ive had enough of him at the moment and now my DK is my main at level 73, taking on 3-4 monsters is just more fun than stealthing behind 1 backstabbing it and hoping you dont accidently pull anything else and need to use vanish
